Project Whmup: A Shmup for the Wii U

It’s a year later, and it’s about time I begin on my next big project. The last game I worked on was for the Xbox 360. This time around, I’ll be making one for the Wii U. After being accepted as a developer, I will now be making a shmup for the console. It is codenamed Whmup (stands for Wii Shmup), but will be changed at a later date.

The story: you’re a hacker in a cyberpunk city controlled mostly by a megacorporation. To uproot its control, an organization has employed you to surf into the cyberspace of the digital space that runs the lives of most people in this society, and make use of your hacking program in the form of a ship to raid each of the enemy’s major web spaces and to destroy them.

The game will feature the high action experience of shmups with explosions, bullets everywhere, and cool power ups. Single player will play like Mega Man, in that you can choose what levels you want to go to in any order. But the more levels the player completes, the harder the other levels become. Fortunately, the player will be able to grow their ship’s powers by collecting special weapons from defeated enemies. The player can customize their experience by leveling up these special weapons through collecting “data orbs” that drop from enemies. Do not fear, for classic shmup players will not find any lacking of powerups that increase your trusty fire button attack, as well.

I said this game has single player, but it will not be restricted to this. This game will feature multiplayer, too! In this mode, you can have from 2 to 4 players fly through cyberspace with you to defeat the corporate scum that dares to control your life.

I will provide more details soon, such as screenshots, a working graphics title, and eventually a website dedicated to the game itself. Meanwhile, feel free to reblog this to your fellow friends and spread the word of this awesome experience coming soon to the Wii U!

Making Games and Taking Names

This blog is going to follow my adventure and tales through the world of interactive entertainment and my pursuit of such. You’ll see my latest art, project progresses, web designs, and much more fun stuff. I’ll have the blog on wordpress only temporarily until I purchase my own domain and make a custom blog and site to my fitting.  That should be up in the next month.

One of my current projects is a video game that I’m the artist on called FAT. It’s a 2D Platformer about a diva who gets sucked into the cartoon world by a jealous witch. Using shoes as her weapon, she has to fight her way through the witch’s minions to find the witch and defeat her so she can go back to the real world. All while trying to keep herself  becoming fat by the sweets and fatty foods that block her way. Once she gets too fat, it’s game over for our diet-loving heroine.

This game is being programmed by a friend named Stephen Grabowski. We’ve been working on this game for a year, mainly because we both have jobs to do on the side, but we’ve managed to reach the end through heart and determination. We’re due to have this submitted and released sometime in September on the Xbox Indie Platform. Hopefully, it’ll be released for PC and Android, as well.

My other project that I’ll be pursuing after this game is done is a cartoon animation starring a few characters from the Yu Yu Hakusho series. It’s meant to be a parody that’ll poke fun at a certain Sakura con video that a friend of mines made. Stay tuned for more details about that in the future.
